Dana Holst’s work as a painter and drawer investigates the psychological world of humans and animals.  Beginning with her personal collection of taxidermy and antique photographs, these elements are often woven into her work along with old master techniques, creating ambiguous narratives to pull at memory and reveal questions about the human condition. Deeply mysterious and haunting Holst’s work addresses notions of allurement and entrapment.

Dana Holst (b.1972, Kitchener, Ontario) lives and works in Edmonton, Alberta and holds a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Waterloo.  Holst runs a small alternative gallery in Edmonton called dhARTworld, spending her time creating art, curating shows and mentoring local
